The Tennessee Diaries Part 2

Last we left off on the diaries of our trip to and final move to TN we had just gotten on a plane bound for California and not knowing when we would come back to TN again but we thought we might just once more...

Our first trip was unsuccessful. After writing the blog I talked to my sister who said "we only saw 3 apartments" and it was true. We spent the majority of the trip #1 getting lost and driving...

When we heard that there was a brand new Barnes & Noble opening at a new shopping center in Murfrreesboro, we thought hey why not. And so we did. But the timing was unbelievable. We had just gotten home and the next trip took place just about 3wks later.

September 3rd our trip was later in the day, we arrived in TN just before 11pm very late at night. The first thing was get our rental car but the place closed at 11pm. I still dont know how she did it but Mel managed to dash her behind through the plan and across the airport and still get there and get one! Go Mel! *L* Haha. In the mean time I shocked her when I showed up with our two "large" suitcases. Hum.

We went to our cheap little hotel. A 3 story place called "Thrifty Inn". The price wasnt that great for what we go, we should have just done motel 6 again. Oh well. And of course we were on the 3rd floor! Nice view of the ground below.

The funniest thing about this trip was being the weather. This time around we had a small chance of showers, and so when we heard a plane flying over the hotel Mel thought it was a tornado! It was hilarious. She looks at me and goes "is that a TORNADO?" we figured out soon enough being so close to the airport it was a plane not a big whirly storm. No we wouldnt get to experience that fun till the following Feb haha!!

We got up early to get the free breakfast. Which wasnt so great. I think I had a bowl of cereal. Then we took off for our trips around trying to find an apartment. This time sticking to stuff in the area near nashville, knowing that we wouldnt be doing the scary part of TN near Memphis.

In the 2 days we were there the two full days, we saw a few real 'winners' meaning not really winners. There was the low income place that was divided in half by a rail road track. How thrilling. This was one of the few places that would allow 3 pets but found out no its just 2 (the girl who told us 3 got fired go figure! she was wrong!).

The other was the crazy building made out of "concrete" which was great for tornados but not so great otherwise. Two reasons. We each had to be making $1,500 a month to get there (even though we never heard of that before or after come on!) and the apartments were SO TINY! The whole front of the apartment could fit in our current townhouses living room! Omg let me tell you not a good idea. Haha!!

Of course one of the last places we saw wasnt even available. But we still LOVED it. The manager was very funny, the beautiful trees around the whole place alone made us fall in love. We fell in LOVE with Northfield Lodge Apartments. But we didnt even get to see an apartment, time was short, so we filled out the application (or took it with us cant recall) and told them to call us if something came up. And we departed.

Our second trip was a bit more relaxing too. We got to spend time at Opry Mills and even played at the Aquairum Restaurant. The sting rays, what a crack up! Um not knowing Mel would work there the following year...what you dont know wont kill you at the time! Heehee!

Of course the main reason for our trip of course was Barnes & Noble. We went there and we missed it! After we dropped off my application we came back because they were supposed to be there longer and when we did they had left. But "Tiffany" was still there. She was helpful and told me to set up a phone interview with her next week and something might still work out.

Needless to say that never worked out after I got home between her and my current unfavorite boss (who didnt like me) at B&N I never got any job at B&N. This trip was for nothing really nothing at all!

Lifes not so funny that way...

Well our trip back home was hectic. I only put this here because I dont think it should have happened. First of all, our trip home was 3 stops, not 2. And that meant at one point changing not just planes but airlines! In AZ Mel almost lost her lego backpack she left it on the shuttle bus we had between the parts of the airport. Thank God she found it. Then we had to go through security again (I know how unfair that sounds!) and we almost missed our plane. We finally got home and found out that our luggage was LOST. We had our two carry on's but our actual suitcases were no where to be found.

It took ours to locate them, turns out as we did leave AZ they didnt come with us but had to be put on the NEXT plane. We had to go home, on my dads birthday and out to dinner thinking we might never see our clothes again. It recked our last dinner with our dad and everything.

When I got the call they were found we went down and got them. Needless to say I do not think you should EVER do 3 stops, its annoying, harsh and you might loose your stuff too!

We settled back into our life of packing and such...in a few weeks we would get a call that would change everything. Even with no jobs lined up a townhouse at Northfield Lodge Apartments opened up. With our deposite in the mail we were set to move to TN now at the end of October. Ready or not TN here we come!!

Stay tuned for day 3 aka the trip out here...hang on kids this one will be a bumpy ride for sure!!
